The singer welcomed her first child, daughter Willow Sage Hart into the world yesterday, in Los Angeles.
"We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart," Pink tweeted to her fans, "She's gorgeous, just like her daddy [Carey Hart]. #beyondblessed"
Cute name! We are so happy for the new Mama. Congrats!! :)
As of late, I have been going to see movies with my significant other and have used up my entire supply of frozen breast-milk. The other night, I wanted to go out and realized I never replaced my supply, so tried to pump right before I went out. Well, that wasn't a smart plan, as I could barely get a drop. My friend suggested I just use some formula, since it was just one feeding. I thought ok, why not? Eventually, when I wean him (I believe I will go until he's about 9-10months) he will start drinking formula before he can drink cow's milk. It shouldn't even be an issue, but the entire time I was out I wondered if I had made the wrong decision to supplement with formula. In the end, he fell asleep sans food and only ate when I picked him up. So I basically worried for nothing.
Next week is the Rihanna concert and a much needed girl's night out, and I vowed (since Monday) that I would pump every night up until next Friday, giving me almost 2 weeks of pump time to stock up my freezer. Well, it's already Thursday and I only started pumping last night. I barely got anything as my body is so used to his scheduled feedings, which are every 3-4 hours. I know if I keep pumping every night my body will get used to the demand and eventually I will able to get a good 4 oz. The only thing holding me back is... well... it's absolutely one of the most irritating things to do. It's not the most comfortable feeling and the pump itself is so loud. It really takes only 20 minutes, and I should technically be doing it right now, but I am finding every excuse not to. :/
So my question is, should I just suck it up and pump or simply incorporate some formula to my son's diet for the times I want to go out? Will my supply go down, or stay the same? Any advice is welcome!
Finally, summer has arrived! As the heat rises, it's time to get ready for the pool. While browsing some bathing suits online, I came across this gorgeous Dior bathing on the great blog Baby Style. With a price tag of $190, I could not believe it was for a child!
Would you ever drop this kind of cash on a bathing suit for your daughter? Besides a celebrity, I don't know who would. I certainly would never spend that kind of cash on my own swim suit, let alone my child's, who will no doubt grow out of it by next summer. It's things like this that make me happy I have a son! I bought his super cute swim shorts & shirts at Old Navy for something like $9 each. Now that's money spent well. :)
One swim set I purchased at Old Navy for less then $20
The Parent Television Council has called out Rihanna on her latest music video for Man Down, the newest single off her LOUD album. They say that the video that premiered yesterday on BET’s 106 and park condemns murder, as it shows Rihanna in an implied rape scene with a man whom she later guns down in an act of premeditated murder.
“‘Man Down’ is an inexcusable, shock-only, shoot-and-kill theme song. In my 30 years of viewing BET, I have never witnessed such a cold, calculated execution of murder in primetime. Viacom’s standards and practices department has reached another new low,” said Paul Porter, co-founder of Industry Ears and a former voice of BET.
“Rihanna’s personal story and status as a celebrity superstar provided a golden opportunity for the singer to send an important message to female victims of rape and domestic violence. Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder the imprimatur of acceptability. The message of the disturbing video could not be more off base,” said Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the Parents Television Council.
This isn’t Rihanna’s first run in with the Parent Television Council. She just recently got flack for her racy performance of ‘S&M’ with Britney Spears at the Billboard Music Awards, just a few weeks ago.
They are now calling on Viacom executives to immediately pull the video from programs that are targeted to youth and teenagers. Meanwhile, Rihanna defends her video via twitter and is continuously re-tweeting positive messages from her fans about how inspiring the video is, how it brings attention to a very serious issue and that it's her best video yet. To all her fans she replied, "Thank you for the amazing response on ManDownVideo I love you guys, and I love that u GOT IT!!!", indirectly referring to people she thinks didn't get it, like the Parental Television Council.
Check out the video and let us know what you think! Has Rihanna gone too far - is she spreading the wrong message, perhaps unintentionally? Or is this just same old entertainment media, no big deal? How do you feel about it, as parent? Do you approve of the message? We want to hear from you!
I just read the most horrifying story on the New York Post website. 14-month-old Xania Angel Samuels tumbled out the window of her family's fifth-floor Bronx apartment and survived. By insisting on wearing her favorite pink winter coat on the hottest day of the year, her family believes the poofy jacket may have protected the baby by adding some cushion to the fall. Unbelievable! This poor baby girl was rushed to the hospital with head trauma. Her father said "It just may have broken her fall, because she is so little, just a baby". I can't see what her status is right now, but according to the site she was in critical condition and doctors were hopeful that she would make it.

Especially when it comes to windows and patio doors. Babies are quick and anything can happen in a blink of eye. We wish Xania a speedy recovery. My heart aches just thinking of her and this avoidable situation.
