Maleficent - Being Bad Never Looked So Good

Disney’s upcoming film, Maleficent, which explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty, is not only exciting for movie goers and Disney fans, but it is inspiring the world fashion and beauty as well!

Angelina Jolie, who stars as Maleficient in the live-action film, teamed up with fashion designer Stella McCartney to create a kids costume collection inspired by the film.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Disney growing up, as was my mother, and I grew up watching all the films like most kids did,” McCartney told WWD, “When the opportunity presented itself and I was invited by Angelina Jolie to visit the film set, I jumped at the chance.” – And who wouldn’t?
The capsule collection will include eight styles including sparkly princess, bow-adorned sandals, dragon-print tees and cool sneakers for boys and girls aged 4 to 14. It will range in price from $75 to $145, and will be available online, at Stella McCartney Kids stores and Disney stores worldwide at the end of April.

I love that they included items for boys as well, who often get left out in these types of collaborations, but I’m sure Angelina made sure to have something all of her own kids could wear. Especially the 3 that made a cameo in the film, including Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, and 4 year old Vivienne who was cast as a young Aurora because she was the only one who was not afraid to approach her mom in costume.
Don’t worry moms! You can get in on the Maleficent fun too, because Mac Cosmetics is also releasing a limited edition collection inspired by the film. It will include 11 products that cover everything, from eyeshadow and lipstick to powder and polish in dramatic shades of red, gold and brown. So if you too, are feeling inspired by evil, you can check out the collection which will be available in stores at the beginning of June.

If that doesn't make you excited enough, here is the movie trailer to get you in the mood. Maleficent hits theatres May 30th, 2014.

Katy Perry - Smurf Style

Today, Katy Perry and co-stars, rocked the blue carpet at the world premiere of The Smurfs at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City.

Glee's Jayma Mays, Katy Perry and Modern Family's Sophia Vergara

The quirky singer who voices Smurfette in the movie, made it clear who the real star is with the famous lady smurf adorned in crystals on her corseted, white dress, custom-made by The Blonds. She topped off the themed look (her signature) with blue smokey eyes, matching Louboutin pumps and her newly blonde locks, which may be going back to her roots (Katy is a natural blonde), or perhaps she was inspired by her character in the film. After all, Smurfette was recently Harper Bazaar’s new fashion ‘it’ girl!

Katy even accessorized with a smurf manicure! “Smurf nails! Duh!” she tweeted.

As childhood fans of the 1980s animated tv series, Montreal Fashion Moms is excited to check out the latest installment of The Smurfs. The family-friendly film hits theatres on Friday, July 29th.

Weekend Rainy Day Activity

Looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend but all this bad weather in Montreal is getting you down? Why not get out of the rain, and hit up the movies? The much anticipated sequel, Cars 2, is out in theaters today.

Star racecar, Lightning McQueen, voiced by new dad Owen Wilson, is back with tow-truck buddy, Mater and they’re headed for a world championship. Cars 2 is said to be and international adventure that’s even more action packed than the first, with more high-speed chases, and a James Bond (for kids) type feel.

Check out the extended Cars 2 trailer below, and click here for a full movie review and local listings, from the Montreal Gazette.
