Over the years, LEGO play has always been a great for any boy or girl, it develops spatial, mathematical, and fine motor skills, and lets kids build almost anything they can imagine - perfect for hours of quiet, independent play. There is no doubt, however, that within their vast array of LEGO offerings (545 in the last year alone), there lacks options specifically for girls. Well, after years of marketing their product to young boys, LEGO is launching a new line called LEGO Friends which is marketed to girls ages five years and up. The new collection revolves around five friends, Olivia, Mia, Andrea, Stephanie and Emma, who each have their own personality, taste and interests. The sets are great for realistic role-play and creativity while keeping intact the core values of LEGO building.
The LEGO Friends collection consists of 23 different products that range in price from $5.99 to $99.99. It is currently available in the UK and will be released in the United States on January 1, 2012, with a full international launch set for spring. Nine additional sets will also be released in the summer.
Our fave set so far is this one of fashion designer Emma who is very creative and loves designing clothes and jewelry, crafts, interior decorating and remodeling. Check out the Lego website here for more details and photos of the girly collection.
