I just came across this video on Facebook last night, and thought it was very interesting and I had to share. The theory discussed in the video claims that across cultures and linguistic groups there are five sounds, each with a meaning, that are used by infants 0-3 months of age, before the language acquisition period, to express a need or want. The hypothesis was developed by Australian former mezzo-soprano, Priscilla Dunstan, who shared her research with Oprah Winfrey on a past episode of her show. (One I wish I had seen when my son was first born). Check it out, and let us know if this theory has helped you understand your baby’s language a little more.

The New LEGO Friends Collection
Over the years, LEGO play has always been a great for any boy or girl, it develops spatial, mathematical, and fine motor skills, and lets kids build almost anything they can imagine - perfect for hours of quiet, independent play. There is no doubt, however, that within their vast array of LEGO offerings (545 in the last year alone), there lacks options specifically for girls. Well, after years of marketing their product to young boys, LEGO is launching a new line called LEGO Friends which is marketed to girls ages five years and up. The new collection revolves around five friends, Olivia, Mia, Andrea, Stephanie and Emma, who each have their own personality, taste and interests. The sets are great for realistic role-play and creativity while keeping intact the core values of LEGO building.
The LEGO Friends collection consists of 23 different products that range in price from $5.99 to $99.99. It is currently available in the UK and will be released in the United States on January 1, 2012, with a full international launch set for spring. Nine additional sets will also be released in the summer.
Our fave set so far is this one of fashion designer Emma who is very creative and loves designing clothes and jewelry, crafts, interior decorating and remodeling. Check out the Lego website here for more details and photos of the girly collection.

Um..why weren’t we invited to this play-date?
During a post-holiday family vacation to St. Barts, celeb stylist Rachel Zoe hit up the beach with her baby son Skyler and met up with fabulous fashion designer Marc Jacobs and his ex-fiance, Lorenzo Martone. They chatted, sun bathed and dotted over Zoe’s beautiful, blue-eyed baby boy. At only 8 months old, Skyler Berman sure is living the high life.

Affleck Girls: Young Entrepreneurs!
How cute are Seraphina and Violet Affleck?! The adorable duo decided to set up their own lemonade stand in their driveway on December 27th. Maybe the young entrepreneurs need a little extra money for some Boxing week deals, lol!
Preggo mama Jennifer Garner and Grandma came out to help and bought some lemonade. Even daddy Ben supported his girls by getting the paparazzi to spare some change and quench their thirst. This family couldn't be any more adorable!

Happy Birthday Yussie!
To my dearest friend Yussie,
What better day than your birthday to tell you how much you mean to me. We’ve been friends now for 5 years, yet it seems like a lifetime. From the moment we met, I was already ready to call you my best friend. We had the same interests, the same goals, the same thoughts, the same fashion sense, we even looked the same! It was a match made in friendship heaven. We’ve grown a lot together over the years; graduating from school (twice), creating two successful blogs, achieving career goals, and best of all, becoming mothers. It has been a blessing to have you by my side through all these wonderful milestones in my life, and it’s been a pleasure to share all these meaningful moments with you. You are a smart, talented and kind woman, a great mother and a wonderful friend. I wish you nothing but the best on your birthday, because you truly deserve it. I hope this year brings you even more happiness and success than the last. I look forward to many more years of celebrations together. As us Jews say, till 120! Stay fabulous! I love you!! Xox

J.R. Martinez is Going to be a Dad!
What a great year for J.R. Martinez! The war vet not only won the Mirror Ball trophy last month on Dancing with the Stars, but he is expecting his first child with girlfriend, Diana Gonzalez-Jones next spring.
“We found out just last week it’s a girl and we are over the moon,” Martinez told People Magazine, “2011 has been full of a lot of surprises and opportunities and ultimately, a lot of blessings. Diana and I were just asking ourselves, ‘How is 2012 going to top 2011?’ Well, we have our answer!”
The couple met in 2008 when J.R. landed a role on the soap opera All My Children. They became close friends and took their relationship to the next level just last year. They are now thrilled to be expecting their first daughter together.
Congrats to J.R. and Diana! We’re sure the inspiring hero will be a great dad.

Ludacris Launches Children’s Website with Daughter
Wow! What an awesome dad! Just in time for the holidays, Rapper Chris Bridges, better known as Ludacris, gifted his 10 year-old daughter with her very own educational website – Karma’s World. The super cute site is filled with games, stories and songs for kids in grade 1 through 6 that cover a variety of subjects including geography, math, science and social studies. Karma, who’s just as passionate about music as her dad, even wrote and recorded all the songs featured on the website including “Fractions” and “Manners”, (My son is only 1 year old so he can't play the games, but he is already enjoying the music!)
“[Karma] absolutely loves [the site]. I [keep] telling her people not only from around the country but around the world are listening to her songs and looking at her website and she’s just like, ‘Really?’” Bridges told BET. “[But] she’s more focused on the fact that Justin Bieber said congratulations to her more than anything else. That’s all she really cares about right now.”
Karma’s fun and educational website also features cool characters named L’il Luda (after dad, of course) and Smartacus and even offers fun lesson plans parents and teachers can download for their elementary school-aged children.
The website’s goal is to “help children understand that learning is fun and can take place in school, at home or anywhere in the world they go as long as they remain curious, open-minded, hard-working and compassionate.”
What a fabulous idea! Congrats to Karma and her dad on the website launch!

Hey Jimmy Kimmel, I Gave my Kids a Terrible Present
If you want to watch a video that will literally make you laugh your ass off, you have to see this latest one from Jimmy Kimmel. Back at Halloween, Jimmy challenged the parents of America to pretend they ate all of their kids’ Halloween candy and to film their reactions and upload them on YouTube. Well, Jimmy is at it again for Christmas! This time around he told parents to allow their kids to open one present a few weeks earlier, but instead of a good present, they had to give them something terrible that they really wouldn’t want. The results of course were hilarious!

Hello Kitty Covers Elle Taiwan
Miss Piggy, Smurfette and the Disney Princesses aren’t the only fictional characters gracing the covers of fashion magazines! Hello Kitty is looking pretty chic on the cover of Elle Taiwan’s 20th anniversary issue this month, in a fabulous pink feathered frock. The popular Sanrio character even snagged a second cover where she sports a trendy polka dotted dress. But of course, its Kitty’s signature bow that tops of the look with the perfect accessory! Which is your favorite cover?

Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj as Barbie Dolls
Mattel has given Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj the plastic treatment. No, not plastic surgery! They have turned these two ladies into Barbie dolls! It’s like every girls dream to be a Barbie and who better to have this honor than these two pink-loving pop princesses?
Katy’s look-alike doll is inspired by her scrumptious cupcake dress worn during her California Dreams World Tour. The doll’s outfit features 70 hand-painted cupcakes, a glittered bodice and fishnet stocking with Swarovski crystals.
"I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world!” Katy Tweeted.
Nicki Minaj, who actually calls her fans Barbies, must love her look-alike doll that wears a dazzling replica of the dress she wore for her Pink Friday album cover. Wispy layers of silky charmeuse and shimmering tulle make this dress extra glamorous, and of course you can’t forget her fave accessory – the Barbie necklace.
“It’s just a one of a kind, limited edition for charity, and so I never thought Mattel would even pay attention to me, for me, this is a very major moment because it just shows that you can come from nothing and still be a force in the main world, a business woman, and hopefully a mogul one day.” Minaj told Billboard of this honor.
These fabulous Barbie dolls will be unveiled at the Divine Design Gala in Los Angeles and will be auctioned off on charitybuzz with proceeds benefiting Project Angel Food, a charity who’s mission it is to nourish the body and spirit of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Unfortunately you won’t be able to run off and buy these dolls for your daughters this Christmas because they are both one-of-a-kind dolls with an estimated value of a whopping $15 000 each! Wow! If you do however have that kind of money to spend, you can bid on the Katy Perry Barbie doll here, and the Nicki Minaj doll here. At least all that money will be going to a great cause!

Katie Couric Interviews Mom-to-be Beyonce
Beyonce recently sat down with Katie Couric for an intimate interview that aired on ABC’s 20/20 last night. The mom-to-be discussed her pregnancy and addressed rumors about her food cravings and fake belly bump. Katie even brought up the fact that her good friend and former Destiny’s Child group mate, Kelly Rowland may have slipped and revealed the sex of her child. Beyonce also talked about how she and hubby Jay-Z feel about becoming parents.
“The best thing is knowing that my favorite person in the world, I haven’t met them yet and hopefully I’m gonna pass on what generations of my family has passed on to me. It’s exciting.” Beyonce told Couric.

Disney Princess Fashion Magazine Covers
Petite Tiaras Tumblr page has recently posted a series fabulous faux magazine covers, each one featuring one of Disney's leading ladies. The Photoshoped mags even feature cover lines all about Princess-related stories; ones that would probably appear if an issue of that magazine dedicated to that princess really existed. Each magazine was carefully matched with its Disney Princess. Snow White grabbed the most coveted spot on the cover of Vogue as the ‘fairest of all’, while one of Disney’s newest Princesses, Tiana graces the cover of Vanity Fair, and Princess Jasmine sexes up the cover of Cosmo.

Kourtney Kardashian Expecting Baby No. 2!
Just the other day, we were talking about Kourtney Kardashian’s new mom blog web series, and it comes at a great time, because Kourtney has just announced that she and Scott Disick are currently expecting their 2nd child. That’s right! Cute baby Mason, who will turn 2 in December, will soon be a big brother! The fashion mom revealed the pregnancy in an exclusive cover story for US Weekly magazine.
“Now I’m nine weeks along. You’re supposed to wait to 12 weeks to tell people, but I feel confident.” The excited expecting mom told US.
Guess there will soon be another Kardashian (or Disick rather) to Keep Up With! We can’t wait to see Kourtney’s maternity style the second time around. Let the bump watch begin!

Bruno Mars on Sesame Street
You have to check out this adorable video of Bruno Mars hanging with his Muppet friends at Sesame Street. He sings a song about not giving up, with the likes of Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abbey Caddabey and others singing backup. The tune about persistence and patience sounds similar to his laid-back single “The Lazy Song”, however the message is quite the opposite. It is a positive song for kids and adults alike, and is fun to listen to because of course everything Bruno Mars sings is a hit! Enjoy!

Toy Story Inspired Fashion Collection
Hong Kong fashion label Bossini has recently launched an entire collection inspired by the Toy Story movie series. The quirky collection includes character sweatshirts and costume-like dresses, bags and mufflers, with options for men, women and children. They’ve covered everything from Jessie’s iconic braid to Woody’s flannel denim shirt and who could forget the Pizza Palace aliens?
While I imagine the pieces for kids will sell faster than those for adults, I love this high fashion twist on the classic Disney/Pixar films.
Bossini’s Toy Story collection will be available in select Disney Stores throughout the U.S., and individual pieces will range from $100 to $1000.
To see the full collection visit Bossini’s Facebook page here.

Kelly Rowland Reveals the Sex of Beyonce's Baby
Uh-oh! Did Kelly Rowland accidentally reveal the sex of Beyonce’s baby? In a recent interview with Bang Showbiz, while talking about what to get Bey for her baby shower, Rowland said, "I have no idea what I'm going to buy Beyonce at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible. She won't be spoiled but she will be very well looked-after." We guess she’s unaware that Beyonce and Jay-Z have not yet commented on or confirmed the sex of their child. Something tells us they won’t be too happy about this unofficial announcement. What do you think? Would you be upset if your bestie let the cat out of the bag before you did?
Chanel Launches Online Games for Kids
Do you want to share your love of fashion with your kids? Well, Chanel has launched a fun interactive website called Culture Chanel to accompany an exhibit they're hosting in Beijing. The site will walk you through the exhibition, giving you a fabulous history lesson on origins of Chanel and best of all it has a kids section with fun interactive games.
In the ‘kid’s space’ you have the choice between the digital coloring book, where you can custom-color various classic Chanel staples like a camellia, a hat or blazer or you can play a classic symbol matching game with Chanel iconography like the lion’s head, the number 5 or the five-pointed star. To get started simply go to the website, click "English" (if you prefer), then click "Kid's Space" at the bottom et voila! Fun fashion games! What better way to improve your child’s memory or aesthetic skills? (or yours..you know you wanna try it! Lol)
