In honor of April
being Oral Health month, Brill Communications introduced us to Tom’s of Maine
children’s toothpaste to try with our kids and get the conversation going about
the importance of Oral Health.
As moms, we are always
on the lookout for the latest, greatest products for our kids especially those
that are healthy, organic, sustainable, etc. When it comes to our children, we
always want what’s best for them, so naturally (pun intended J) we were really excited to try out the Tom’s of Maine toothpaste,
because they are a leading natural products company that provide high quality
oral and personal care products.
Have you ever wondered
what’s inside your child’s toothpaste? The types of chemicals that enter their
mouth and are possibly swallowed? The people at Tom’s of Maine pride themselves
on offering products that are free of artificial colors or flavors, Artificial
preservatives like EDTA, formaldehyde, parabens, etc. and animal products. So now
you might be wondering..without all the flash and color, how will this product
appeal to my child that already needs convincing to brush his or her teeth?
Well, for 1, the packaging is beautiful, and though the paste itself lacks a
little color, the natural taste of fresh herbs and fruits will surely convince
them!
My 3 and a half year
old son, Jagger, tried out the New Wicked Cool fluoride-free toothpaste. It’s
marketed for kids 8 years and older as it features a mild mint flavor for kids
who have outgrown fruit or bubblegum flavors but aren’t quite ready for the
strong mint flavors found in adult toothpastes, but my son had already been
using strong mint flavored toothpaste, so this was right up his alley! The only
difference is that being fluoride free and natural, I became more at ease with
him using it. He was so excited to have a new toothpaste all his own that
looked just as Wicked Cool as it said. He was also pretty proud to spot his new
toothpaste featured in a magazine as he flipped through my latest issue of
Today’s Parent.
New favourite toothpaste! |
Yussie’s son Kion, also three years old, still prefers the fresh taste of fruits, so the Silly Strawberry toothpaste was perfect for him! No need for sparkles or artificial flavour when he can start the day with a taste of his favourite fruit! Also being fluoride-free, no need to worry about any accidental swallows!
Brushing our teeth is such a natural part of our everyday routine, but sometimes we forget to take a little time, outside of our early morning rush, and bedtime routine to teach our kids why taking care of our teeth is so important. If you haven’t done it already, now is the perfect time to visit the dentist, schedule your next appointment, or try a new toothpaste!
